A year ago many of you were praying with the friends and family of Fred that his trip "homeward" would be peaceful. A heavenly Easter seemed possible and actually probable. When he rallied one of you wrote, "Fred will be with the Lord on Easter -----just now THIS Easter." Well, Fred celebrated the joy of Christ's resurrection with his family in Dallas, Texas in 2005, as well. The mysteries of God and the unfathomable depths of His wisdom continue to be sources of great pondering in Fred's life. Knowing God more intimately has become the hallmark of his thinking in this last year.
Specific prayer requests:
1) Strength and joy for Ofelia and Priscilla as they serve faithfully as home health care assistants
2) Continued healing of the left foot
3) Thanksgiving for lifetime friendships such as Seth Macon and Sam Buchanan who remind him that all their bodies are failing but their spirits are strong.
4) Thanksgiving for TEAM FRED. Fred's improved physical condition allows him to be transported with a wheelchair. The trusty Barton Chair is now occupying the Fred Shed.
Today will be a monumental occasion. A trip to The Scooter Store may result in Fred's being motorized. Watch out North Dallas ---- he is warming up for the Brickyards of Indianapolis.
As Fred lies in bed with a deteriorating body his spirit is developing a magnificent physique. "Suffering is God's gynmasium" he reminds us. The darkness allows the true Light to shine and illuminate the verities of scripture. You all are blessings of the deepest kind. We are one in the bonds of love.
