What a week it has been! Saturday's Breakfast With Fred featured Charlie "Tremendous" Jones. He was in Dallas to receive the Roaring Lambs' Hall of Fame Award. Topics ranged from "expectations of heaven" to "joy in the Lord" and everywhere else in between. What an exciting time it was. Saturday evening was the banquet and Fred powered his way shaking hands and greeting many friends all along the way. Last year he received this award and spoke from the Barton Chair in a reclining position. This year he was sporting his new red wheels ---- and even new shoes!
On Sunday he spoke to Zig Ziglar's Encouragers' Class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. As he left he said, "I have two hours of material prepared and I hope the best thirty minutes of it will come through!"
Specific prayer requests:
1) We are within one week of the anniversary of Mary Alice's homegoing. The memories are sweet, but the missing of her presence is still there.
2) Continued success of the permacath is an ongoing request. The Lord has blessed Fred with great performance of this port.
3) Preparation for the Bill Glass Annual Banquet on November 8th. Fred will receive a lifetime achievement award and be given an opportunity to say some meaningful words to the audience.
4) Praise and thanksgiving for all who pray, encourage, call, email.
As we approach the November 8th date it is natural to look back over the last year and see God's hand of loving provision. It is also natural to see that you all have supported and sustained. What a blessing you are in the life of the Smith family. Praise be to God for the Body of Christ that surrounds each other with care and love.
