Please join me in celebrating my friend Sam Buchanan's 90th birthday.
Sam, for more than 50 years you have been my social awareness role model. I have always been impressed with the way that you confronted a family economic downturn by starting in factory work at a minimal job even though you were raised in the best Southern tradition of wealth and gracious lifestyle. You rose steadily through the ranks to the Vice Presidency of a billion dollar corporation. Your lifetime commitment to the Methodist church and your faith is consistent and real.
You are a blessing to many. Your loyalty fo friends is always inspiring. I can always count on you. We've had a great life together whether it was in the Tullahoma, TN. plant or the Fifth Avenue New York City office. You have always been a gentleman.
Congratulations on this 90th year milestone. Thanks for making the spot ready because I am headed that way in a hurry. And, as you know, "the best is yet to be."
