Health Update on Fred-1/26

Have you ever heard of Turtle Time?  That is when the turtle finds a nice high spot, pulls in his head and just survives the storm.  This is a period of turtle time for Mary Alice and me.  We have both spent our lives being physically active and now 14 hours of each day is spent sitting.  It is requiring us to totally redefine productivity.

We want you to know how much your emails, calls, notes and flowers mean to us.  We still have magnificent Christmas amaryllises blooming in our sitting room - a fragrant reminder of friendship.  Thank you.

I contracted a terrific cold and found my philosophy of "the body will heal itself" being challenged by the dialysis center and my family!  I think they are terribly overprotective and fussy, but I do appreciate their concern.  My voice was starting to sound somewhat like my friend Steve Brown's, but then instead of resonant I just got raspy!

I am really enjoying the monthly teleconferences with the Crystal Cathedral and Guideposts magazine.  Right now I am working on four new topics and it certainly fills up that inevitable awake time from 1:15 AM to 3:30.  If you know of any good reason why I awaken at the exact same time each morning, please let me know.

The holidays were good because we saw the entire family and spent a wonderful Christmas Eve with most of them at our daughter Mary Helen's house.  In our family we always talk about putting deposits in our memory bank and this was a great example.  Watching Mary Alice smile as she played with her great-grandchildren reminded me that her dream came true when her "dolls turned to children."

We are praying for you and are most grateful.  We continue to learn important lessons about mental, spiritual and emotional discipline as our physical conditions deteriorate. But most importantly we learn more about the adequacy of Christ.

Blessings.
