Dear Fred
What is the value of a sense of humor?
Fred's Response
I have always wanted to write a book on the serious use of humor. It is one of the principle ways of accepting our fallibility. I shock people by saying I do not believe Christ had a sense of humor any more then he had a sense of guilt. He did not need it. Perfection does not require humor. Imperfection does. In former times when the deceased was known to have a sense of humor it would be mentioned in the obituary. Humor is a great adjustment to the reality of life. If it dominates life it becomes an escape from reality. In the right proportion it gives a sweet taste to the mixture of other qualities. It brings flexibility to difficult situations.
