Dear Fred

Where should we draw the line between loyalty and accountability? I have heard you teach that "loyalty is the foundation of love". It seems to me that true loyalty comes with accountablity, however in our society and in our churches people seem to choose one or the other. Rather than draw a line between the two shouldn't Christians seek to erase it?

Fred's Response

Loyalty inspires accountability. Our first love should be complete loyalty and accountability to Christ. Instead of erasing the line I would think we should come nearing uniting it. Certainly the two should not be in competition with each other. When we have unconditional love we have both loyalty and accountability. The Scripture uses the word, “Hesed” which is translated loyal love.
