Is a wife's past life really secret and should it be kept that way when her actions in inflict on her relationship in our present marriage communication?

I believe revealing secrets of the past should be heavily influenced by how it will effect the present. I think carrying a secret is sometimes its greatest punishment. However, if it would devastate a present relation I would suggest that it be kept even if it would be much more comfortable to reveal it.
