Dear Fred

I work at a large church as a Pastor and have a different view on women in ministry then most of the people on staff. When do you know when to give your views on a topic such as women in ministry when they the church has such a strong view on only male leadership over mixed groups?

Fred's Response

We seldom belong to any organization with whom we totally agree. Therefore, we have to be careful in picking the issues important enough to lose membership and relationship. Do you feel that this is a moral issue with you? If you feel that you cannot be loyal to the leadership then you are faced with finding an organization with which you can be compatible. If the issue does not affect your spiritual maturity I would abide by the decision of the leadership. But if you leave, you should go with intellectual integrity rather than using this to divide the leadership and perhaps the church.
