Dear Fred
Regarding Text Criticism in general and the Book Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman. I saw the book at borders and read an online review. It appears offhand that the premise is that man has corrupted the Word of God for thier own purpose and that today the church does not or cannot know what the original writings were. Is this so? The introduction hints/suggust that Christians may have the wrong positions on such things as abortions and homosexuals etc. Could this Be? Are you familiar with this author and book? Is there materials that you would recommend about texual criticism? Is the Bible that I have been taught just a book of mens opinions?
Fred's Response
I am not familiar with the book or the author. There are many who want to escape the obedience to Scripture. I accept the translations from the King James to scholars who want to obey scripture rather then change it for their own convenience. I think we have the faith once delivered to God’s people. If I were not a Christian I would still not believe in abortion or homosexual activities nor in evolution as our start in life. I would certainly balance my thinking by bible scholars from the website, www.bible.org.
