Dear Fred
I am on the board of a 3-1/2 year old church. We started off in a home with 6 families and have grown to about 300 weekly attenders (including kids)in a rented school multipurpose room. It seems we are great at attracting new folks, but not as adept in growing fully devoted followers of Christ (ie. discipleship). Many of our mature believers have slowly been leaving to other local churches and I fear we don't have the right focus in the discipleship area. Any thoughts or suggestions? Or is the an age old problem/growing pain issue that is common?

Some of the mega-churches major on attracting attenders. I feel they are shortchanging them if they do not develop into mature disciples. Why would you mature believers leave when there is such an opportunity to help the younger ones grow in the Lord. It seems to me that they are rejecting their responsibility to make disciples as the Lord commanded.
