John 20:22 states: "And with that He breathed on them and said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit". What, in your opinion, physically happened or did breathe on them have a different connotation in that day?

To me, He brought to them the comforter which He had promised which we know as the Holy Spirit. I have always literally accepted the statement and have never thought about a physical change but a spiritual change of empowerment. I have no trouble believing that He actually physically breathed on them. Other places in the scripture the presence of the Spirit has had a physical presence such as the wind filling the temple. Remember, you are getting an executive's opinion, not a theologian's.
